Under the past several weeks, amidst the unnecessary trade war with China, there has been a flurry of videos that have hit the internet from replica sellers. A replica seller specializes in selling and/or producing a product that is very similar to the name-brand original.
Now, a good seller will get you a product that is close to the original with some obvious differences. The stitching may be off. The logo might be too close or too far apart. The overall design might be obviously look fake. A great seller, however, will get you as close to 1:1. Do those sellers exist? Yes. Are they widely popular and easily accessible? No. And for good reason.
When these seller sell their products, they’re often risking their own lives and livelihoods. Some sellers are risking banshiment from the factories and even their own connections to sell outside the country. So, buying a replica is a bit more than just going to someone on the street and getting a cheap knock-off. Some of these knock-offs are a pretty penny.
I decided to do one for my own experiment. But was it worth it?
I decided to go on the rather controversial website/app – DHGate. The reason why it’s controversial is because it’s a hit and miss. Sometimes, a seller will deliver exactly what was promised and sometimes, well, people will be scammed. And if you’re really lucky (cue: sarcasm), you’ll be scammed by the same seller you had a great experience with. It’s really a touch and go.
After finding one seller who specializes in luxury replica handbags, I decided to purchase one. I was willing to spend a small amount of money (and it was small; I’ll share the details at the end of the post). A short itme later, I heard from the seller confirming my address, which I did. And then the waiting game began.
Originally, I was told the bag wouldn’t be shipped until mid-May. I figured, cool. It’ll be a late Mother’s Day gift to myself. So, imagine my surprise when it came three weeks early! Whoa!
To be honest with you, I didn’t know what to expect. So, when I saw the bag came with a dustbag, I was thoroughly shocked. Mind you, I do have an authentic Louis Vuitton handbag (that I absolutely loathe), so I was very surprised by a dust bag.
Now, was this replica worth the purchase? Let’s get into it!
The bag was surprisingly great quality. I believe it is quality leather. Even if it’s fake, it’s quality pleather. I was very surprised at the quality of it.
Now, the bag does come with some obvious defects. For example if you pay attention to the picture above, you see there’s an obvious crease across the bag from when it was folded. Quality bags that fold don’t have creases like that. And that crease is still there, over a week later!
There are some other cosmetic differences – the stitching is a little off and I can tell with a keen eye, I’m wearing a fake. But I do care? Not really.
Overall, I give this 5/5. Will I be a replica customer from this moment on? Probably not. As much as I love my handbags, I love more authentic ones. One of my favorite bags is one I got off Tik-Tok for $5.
Now, how much did this fake Louis actually cost? Less than $40! Yes. Now, I understand some perspectives it might be great for the money or really terrible for the money. Again, I’m happy with the purchase. It’s a bag I’ll wear for a while before I give it away to friends or family.

It can overwhelming but if you do some research, you can find out a lot. Now, I have to warn you – SCAMMING IS HIGH IN THE REPLICA COMMUNITY, so buyer beware!!
